As he’s cautious to level out, Professor Michael Levitt is just not an epidemiologist. He’s Professor of Structural Biology on the Stanford Faculty of Medication, and winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for “the event of multiscale fashions for advanced chemical methods.”
With a purely statistical perspective, he has been enjoying shut consideration to the Covid-19 pandemic since January, when most of us weren’t even conscious of it. He first spoke out in early February, when by way of analysing the numbers of circumstances and deaths in Hubei province he predicted with outstanding accuracy that the epidemic in that province would high out at round 3,250 deaths.
On this interview with Freddie Sayers, Government Editor of UnHerd, Professor Levitt explains why he thinks indiscriminate lockdown measures as “an enormous mistake,” and advocates a “sensible lockdown” coverage, targeted on simpler measures, targeted on defending aged individuals.
